Welcome to Guy's and
St. Thomas' GP VTS
We are a fun, versatile &
innovative 3 year vocational training scheme
(VTS). Our hospital posts revolve around
Guys & St Thomas NHS hospitals as well as
within community mental health clinics in
South East London. Unique community
experience within hospital posts is further
provided by family planning, community
paediatric and GUM clinics. In addition,
some trainees spend 6 months in a Homeless
and Rootless post. Here half of your week is
spent in general practice, the other half
you see patients in homeless
hostels/substance misuse centres and learn
how to safely manage and prescribe for
people with addiction to drugs and alcohol.
Our training practices are scattered around
Southwark & Lambeth. This diverse and
vibrant area provides excellent learning
opportunities for a GP trainee. The variance
of practices is marked, from large practices
placed in high socioeconomic areas with
excellent public transport to others being
much less so and smaller. Indeed many
surgeries have a practice population that
covers a multitude of patient groups to
enhance the educational experience. Details
of each post and training practice can be
found within this website.
The administrator for the VTS is Ade Ikotun
